A new director has been named to manage the City of Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works. City Administrator Casey Bradley announced on Monday that Travis Peterson will take the position effective July 8th, pending final approval by the Common Council. Peterson said that he was honored to bring his over 25 years of environmental experience to the City, and that he was looking forward to contributing to the City’s infrastructure development while maintaining a strong focus on environmental protection and community engagement.
Peterson’s specialties revolve around managing soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor contamination, as well as design, installation, and oversight of remedial actions and mitigation systems. He’s also managed numerous state and federal grant applications, developed strong relationships with state agency representatives and local municipalities, overseen complex environmental projects and fostered partnerships with construction and developing companies.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson said that Peterson’s background “aligns perfectly with our city’s goals for sustainable growth and infrastructure improvement.”
The announcement said that Peterson’s appointment “comes at a crucial time as Sheboygan continues to focus on sustainable development and infrastructure improvements. His expertise will be invaluable in advancing the city’s public works initiatives and ensuring they align with environmental best practices.”
