Property assessment notices for residents in Plymouth should start showing up in the mail this week. Officials with the City of Plymouth say the notices were mailed over the weekend as part of the City’s interim market update to come into compliance with the assessment ratios set by state statute.
Officials say while the average assessment citywide increased about 40%, that does not mean that property taxes have gone up 40%. The assessments are used to determine each property owner’s share of the total tax burden…depending on how an individual property’s assessment changed compared with the citywide average, an owner’s share may increase, decrease, or remain unchanged.
Property owners with questions are urged to contact the assessor’s office.
