Shirley Rose Kohls, 86, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at St. Nicholas Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born November 26, 1935 in Plymouth, Shirley was a daughter of the late Paul and Anita Weber King. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1953. On November 10, 1956, she was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Kohls at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Shirley worked at Beltone Hearing Aid in Sheboygan for 24 years before her retirement. She previously worked at Northwestern Casualty Insurance and at the Vollrath Company. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and the BPOE Elks Lodge #299. She enjoyed golfing and was an avid Elvis fan.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gene; her children, Pamela (Kyle) Gearon, Chicago, and Steven (Christine) Kohls, Sheboygan; her grandchildren, Myles and Emmia Gearon, Abbigail (Katlin) Leavens, and Ashlie (Joshua) Mason; eight great grandchildren; her sister, Carol Spatzek, Milwaukee; her brothers-in-law, Dr. Eugene Zavrl, AZ, Gerald (Nancy) Kohls, Sheboygan, and Edward Horan, TX; her sister-in-law, Shirley Margenau, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howard (Helen) King; two sisters, Marilyn Zavrl and Janet Horan; and brothers-in-law, Robert (Evelyn) and Donald Kohls.
According to her wishes, private family services will take place. Inurnment will be in the Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Dr. S. Mark Bettag and Dr. Michael Johnson and their staff, as well as the St. Nicholas Hospital ICU and Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Shirley’s arrangements.
