Though the decline in the spread of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County is unmistakeable, the levels are still higher than any time in the previous two years, and still above 4,000, a level first surpassed on January 17th this year. As 83 more cases were recognized since Wednesday, another 378 persons recovered, resulting in a drop of 295 active cases to a level of 4,409. 28,485 cases in all have been recorded during the pandemic which arrived here in March of 2020.
2 more persons required hospitalization, raising the total number of patients treated for COVID-19 in the county to 1,139. 28, or one more than on Wednesday, are currently hospitalized.
The level of community transmission remains “high” in Sheboygan County. Both the case rate and positive percent of tests were unrevised since Wednesday, at 952.84 per 100,000, and 24.83% respectively.
As of February 2nd, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports that the 7-day average of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County, considered a solid measure of trends, was 63…down from the 72 reported on Wednesday, continuing a weeks-long decine.
71,514 persons, or 62.1% of the county, have now received at least one dose of vaccine. That’s 18 more than on Wednesday. Another 78 persons received their 2nd dose, putting that total at 67,804, or 58.8% of the county population.
