Frank H. Roberts, 85, of Elkhart Lake, after a long and fulfilling life, passed away
peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls surrounded by his loving family.
Frank was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 18, 1936 a son to the late
Frank R. and Wanda V. (Holt) Roberts. He attended schools and graduated from
high school in Stanley, Kansas. Later in life he earned a Bachelors of Science
degree in business from Elmhurst College, in Elmhurst, Illinois. He enlisted and
proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. On May 5, 1956, he was united in marriage
to Jean M. Cary at Centenary United Methodist Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
Frank had a long and successful career as a salesman of business forms and
equipment, data processing services, and computer staffing. Later in his career he
was an entrepreneur, launching his own data processing and computer staffing
company called, the SDM Corporation. His love of flying and planes led him to
obtaining his pilot’s license. He also was a recreational boater, especially enjoying
Kentucky Lake with his family, and the coastal waters of Florida. He had a
longtime love of music and performed in church choirs and barbershop choruses
throughout his life. He had a life-long appreciation for photography and launched
the Elkhart Lake Camera Club.
Frank was an ambitious volunteer. He was active with his sons in Little League
Baseball and the Boy Scouts, where he served as a leader. While living in Florida
he served on the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church Disaster and Hurricane
Response Team. He was also active with S.H.I.N.E., an organization committed to
serving the health insurance and Medicare needs of elders. As a popular and
outgoing member of the Elkhart Lake community, Frank was eager to lend a
helping hand to his neighbors and community members.
Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; his three sons, John R. (Christina)
Roberts of Portland, ME, James L. (Mary) Roberts of Bartlett, IL and Stephen C.
(Jennifer) Roberts of McKinney, TX; four grandsons, Dillon B., John C., James T.
and Michael A. Roberts and a great grandson, Julian R. Manual. Along with his
parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William G. Roberts.
Cremation will take place and there will be a service and gathering of friends and
family at a later date. Inurnment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis,
Missouri.
