SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – As traditions were set aside and families were forced to find new ways to celebrate one of the most Holy days in Christendom, the cold numbers of a pandemic cast a shadow over this Easter Sunday. Sheboygan County Public Health reported yet another positive case of COVID-19, this one in the 20-39 age range. A total of 36 coronavirus cases have now been confirmed in Sheboygan County. 2 persons have succumbed to the disease. At this time, 20 cases remain active and 3 are hospitalized. 14 have recovered from the disease, and 549 negative tests for the virus have been confirmed. Statewide, 128 more cases of the coronavirus were confirmed, bringing the Badger State total to 3,341.
Easter Sunday, traditionally one of the most-attended Christian Holidays in the church, was nearly unrecognizable from past celebrations. Most Churches remained closed for services. Some other churches put services online for streaming, and still others had drive-up services for those willing to park and stay in their cars. Sheboygan County Public Health had urged residents to forego family gathering traditions and to maintain social distancing and to not gather in groups of 10 or more.
The public was encouraged to continue vigilance and to adhere to all rules connected to Governor Evers’ “Safer at Home” initiatives; to wear face masks when going out into the public, to avoid direct contact with others, to limit excursions to only that which is necessary to maintain everyday life, and to wash hands frequently and thoroughly.
