CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Chicago Cubs shut out the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on Sunday to win the weekend series from Wrigley Field.
William Contreras and Sal Frelick hit doubles for Milwaukee. Freddy Peralta got the loss after giving up three runs over five innings.
Javier Assad earned his third win of the season for Chicago after giving up four hits over six innings. The bullpen allowed just one more hit over the final three frames. Danby Swanson crushed a solo homer, while Nico Hoerner drove in a pair of runs with a fifth-inning double.
The Brew Crew remain first in the NL Central at 20-13 and will now head to Kansas City for a three game series with the Royals beginning on Monday night.
