Fond du Lac County authorities have released details of a violent crash that led to two arrests and the seizure of a substantial amount of drugs and money. The incident a week ago Sunday began at around 10:40 p.m. with a rollover crash on I-41 near Townline Road. The two occupants, both from the Shawano area, fled the scene immediately on foot. A 27-year-old female passenger was located shortly after, while a longer search by the drone team and K9 Rip led them to the male driver who’d fled on foot for nearly three miles to the north.
The Sheriff said that what they then found likely prompted the suspects to flee after such a violent crash; a large quantity of drugs and cash they left in a trail as they ran. Deputies used a ground search and K9 Rip, working with North Fond du Lac Police officers to recover a substantial quantity of fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana from that trail, while paraphernalia and around $1,000 cash was also seized from the scene.
Both suspects are in jail facing charges of possession with intent to deliver the drugs. The driver also had a prior open felony case, while the passenger was also detained on a probation hold.
