Another Sheboygan County resident has died of COVID-19, the 237th casualty of the coronavirus pandemic locally. So far, 109 of deaths have been to patients at least 80 years old, 59 were among those in their seventies, 37 were in their sixties, 16 were in their fifties, 9 were in their forties, 6 were in their thirties, and 1 was between 10 and 19 years old.
Of the now 28,815 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far in Sheboygan County, 2,886 are active. That’s down 283 from Wednesday as the 35 new positives were offset by 317 recoveries. Active cases have now receded to levels last seen almost exactly 4 weeks ago.
Total hospitalizations for COVID-19 increased by 8 in the last day, but with 13 persons leaving the hospital the patient population declined by 5 to a total of 11 current patients.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County remains “high”, with a case rate of 384.08 per 100,000 population. That measure of the total number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 7 days is down 43.35 points from Wednesday.
17.89% of all tests are coming back positive over the last 7 days, a decline of over 1/3 of 1 percent.
Vaccine data was not updated by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as of 4 PM on Thursday.
