When the first wave of COVID-19 bottomed out in 2021, it was July 16, and there were 23 active infections in Sheboygan County, that after a peak of 2,634 cases were known on November 24, 2020. As the Omicron wave recedes, there are hundreds of cases pending recovery before declining numbers even approach that peak. 4 weeks ago was the closest, with 2,787 cases on January 12. On Wednesday, February 9th, the County Division of Pubic Health reported 3,169 active cases in the county. That is a decline of 358 from Tuesday as there were 410 recoveries against the 52 new cases confirmed. The total case count now stands at 28,780.
One more person had to be admitted for hospital treatment, but 9 more were discharged as the patient total declined 8 to 16 patients. 1,149 patients have been treated here so far.
The COVID-19 activity level remains “Critically high” in Sheboygan County, with a burden, or total nuber of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 in the last two weeks, of 1,235.7. That’s down from 2,033.1 the previous week.
Another 35 Sheboygan County residents received their first dose of vaccine in the last 24 hours, raising that total to 71,614, or 62.1% of the population. 59.1%, or 68,055, are fully vaccinated, a gain of 78 since Tuesday.
