Marjorie Mae (Bowser) Kuehl departed this earth on Saturday, June 13, at the venerable age of one hundred. Her most fervent wish was to not end up in a nursing home, and thanks to the loving care and commitment of two of her daughters, her wish was fulfilled; Marjorie passed away in the comfort of her LakeHouse apartment.
As with most couples, the matriarch of the Kuehl family, Marjorie, and the patriarch of the Kuehl family, Sylvester did not agree on everything, but there was one thing the couple stood firmly together on – their priorities: Number One, God; Number Two, family. While raising their crew – and for decades afterward – Sylvester and Marjorie carried the torch for God and family. After Sylvester’s death in 2008, Marjorie picked up the torch and carried on. Only in passing did she lay it down.
The family tree Marjorie and Sylvester created is, to say the least, expansive. Ten children: Marsha (William) Bathke; Gregory (Marcia) Kuehl; Judith (Terrand Grall) Kuehl; Thomas (Nancy) Kuehl; Donna (Richard) Frantz; Mary Kuehl; CJ Kuehl; Monica (James) Schoenike; Christine (Dennis) Wick; Robert (Kimberly) Kuehl; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, plus one on the way. Every single one of them Marjorie and Sylvester’s pride and joy. And in the years since Sylvester’s passing, every single one of them was the light of Marjorie’s life.
Majorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three grandchildren, Jacob, Amber, and Kelly, and a son-in-law, William Bathke.
This light showed in Marjorie’s eyes whenever someone close to Marjorie visited. It came through in her sense of humor, which was present up to the very end. On Sundays especially, Marjorie’s apartment burned bright with fun, laughter, and amusement.
The family would like to recognize Marjorie’s many wonderful caregivers at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and Aurora Medical Center, and LakeHouse, where he resided. Their value and valor will forever be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of the Kuehl family.
The Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
