Gauged by the number of active cases reported by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on its Coronavirus Case Dashboard, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has been in somewhat of a plateau the past three weeks.
Active cases this past week averaged 718 per day Monday through Friday, October 18-22. Since October 4, cases ranged from a low of 649 (on the 4th) to a high of 778 on October 6th. On Friday, 740 cases were being monitored by the County DHS, 22 more than on Thursday. 69 new positives were countered by 47 recoveries. 16,630 cases in all have been confirmed in Sheboygan County during the pandemic.
Three more persons were hospitalized for COVID-19 since Thursday, raising that total to 850. With only 1 patient discharged, the patient population grew to 15.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County remains “high”. The Case Rate, measured as the total number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 7 days, was 269.64, up from 251.43 on Thursday. 9.77% of test in that same period returned positive for COVID-19.
73 more persons were entered as having received at least one shot of vaccine since Thursday, raising the county total to 64,673 persons, or 56.1% of the county population. 53.8%, or 62,017, are fully vaccinated, 61 more than on Thursday.
