Sheboygan County Clerk Jon Dolson has notified the County Board of Supervisors that he has been suspended over actions he took to help to resolve a neighborhood dispute. In a letter dated today (10/22/26) Dolson said that a complaint had been filed against him with the Wisconsin Elections Commission. On September 10th, the WEC issued its determination that he had intentionally accessed and shared an elector’s unredacted voter record from the voter registration system in an attempt to try and resolve a neighborhood dispute.
As a result, Dolson’s access to the elector database has been suspended and he is required to receive additional training as prescribed by the WEC Administrator. Dolson stated that his suspension will not impede his ability to enter results into the WEC canvass system during the upcoming November election, and that he fully intends to perform his election responsibilities as required by law.
As the WEC has concluded its investigation, the matter has been referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office for possible further action. WHBL News has reached out to both the DA’s Office and the County Administrator, and is awaiting response.
Wisconsin law states that violation of Statute 12.13 (2) (b) 7 constitutes a Class I felony, the lowest-level felony charge in Wisconsin, carrying a maximum penalty of up to 3-1/2 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
