Brian Thomas

Brian L. Thomas, age 77, of Cascade, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2020, at Select Specialty
Hospital in Madison.
He was born in Plymouth on October 12, 1943, a son of the late Walter and Olive (Griesch) Thomas.
Brian attended Plymouth grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School.
Following high school, Brian served in the United States Navy. He served active duty in Vietnam, and
also served in the Navy Reserves, retiring after 25 years of service.
On March 10, 1969, he married Sarah “Sally” Rentmeester in Waukegan, IL. The couple has resided in
Parnell since their marriage.
Brian was a member for many years with the Cascade Lions Club. He held many offices with club
including the Board of Directors, and serving as President. He was also a member of the NRA, WI ATV
Association, an honorary member of the Ridge Runner’s Sportsman Club, and a 50 year member of the
VFW.
He enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, golfing, going to his place up north and riding ATVs and UTVs.
Brian is survived by: Wife: Sally; Sons: Chris Thomas of St. Cloud and Shawn Thomas (special friend:
Renee) of Waldo; Brothers: Steve Thomas of Howards Grove and Jeff Thomas of Florida. He is also
survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; Sister: Pat (Wally) Schmitz; and Brother-in-law: Dave (Bette)
Rentmeester.
Following Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service with military rites will be
held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
