Richard “Dick” A. Scharenbrock, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at
Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee. He was born December 11,1930 in Greenwood to Christ and
Clara (Stiefvater) Scharenbrock. He then came to Sheboygan to make his home. He finished 8 th grade at
Mapledale School and Graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1948. On June 6, 1959 he
married the love of his life Audrey “Pudgie” Swoboda at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in
Sheboygan. They shared 61 good years together.
Dick worked for the Kohler Company and then went to work at Vollrath where he retired after 40 years
in January 1993. Having a strong faith, Dick was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He
enjoyed his garden, canning, bowling and golfing. He loved to can, pickles, tomato juice, dilly beans and
cocktail onions.
Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years Audrey, four children: Tom Scharenbrock of Sheboygan Falls,
Annie Scharenbrock of Sheboygan, Joan (fiancé Dale Burch) Scharenbrock of FL, and Susie Scharenbrock
of Sheboygan, two grandchildren, Chris and Daniel Scharenbrock, sisters, Elaine Kotlarek of Woodruff
and Maggie (Joe) Collie, and nephews, Mark, Paul, David (Laura) Collie of VA and Dennis (Deborah) Collie
of KY. He is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Quirin and Dorothy Swoboda, brothers-
in-law Clifford Kotlarek Lloyd (Shirley) Paulson, Vernon Swoboda, and sisters-in-law JoAnn (Elly) Schmahl
and the family dog Smokey.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 3:45 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in
Kohler. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the
Chapel. All COVID-19 procedures will be followed, masks are required, social distancing of 6ft and hand
sanitizing when you enter the chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sheboygan Humane Society or Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice in Dick’s name.
