Sunday, January 5, 2025 Milton George Abel, 99, passed away peacefully at Rocky Knoll Nursing
Home.
Milton was born in the town of Barton to John and Esther (nee Benike) Abel on February 21,
1925.
On September 6, 1947 he married Lucille Ruefenacht.
Milton started out as a hired farm hand with a desire to have his own farm and with Lucille’s
help that became a reality. Before long they had six children to help as well. They enjoyed 41
years of marriage until her death in 1989. Milton’s love for learning and reading moved him to
study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and July 5, 1963 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s
Witnesses. He was a part of the Sheboygan North congregation. Milton wanted all to learn
about the truth he had found! February 10, 1990 he married Lorraine Thiedeman. Shortly after,
he retired from farming but kept busy helping others when he learned of a need. Milton and
Lorraine were married 30 years; sadly she passed away in 2020.
Milton is survived by his six children: Kenneth (Valerie) Abel; Carolyn (Norman) Hoefert;
Kathleen (Jim) Hollingsworth; Mary (Dick) Schweitzer; James (Diane) Abel; Nancy (Ron) Loehr
and stepdaughter Bonny Whitman. Also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
Milton was preceded in death by his two wives; and his four siblings; Lucille (Arland) Seyfert;
Shirley (Robert) Reuter; Ray (Jeanette) Abel and John (Ruth) Abel. The family would like to
thank all the caregivers that helped Milton these past few years.
The visitation will begin at 2:30pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Sheboygan Kingdom
Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 3328 North Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53083. A memorial talk will be
