Mary E. Rooker, age 86, of Plymouth, WI, passed away early Wednesday morning (May 18, 2022) at the
Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center In Sheboygan Falls.
She was born on May 12, 1936 in Sheboygan, WI, a daughter of the late Adrian and Margaret
(Schneider) Van Dixhorn.
Mary graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1954.
On October 2, 1954 she married Robert R. “Bob” Rooker at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Waldo, WI.
He preceded her in death on November 11, 2015.
Mary was employed at Fleet Farm, Toro Company and retired from the Plymouth Hospital.
She was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, WI was a member of the Altar
Guild and volunteered in the Health Room at St. John Lutheran School. She served as a 4-H Leader and
also volunteered many hours at the Plymouth Food Pantry.
Bob and Mary s successfully farmed on Fairmont Acres, along with her brother, Adrian. Mary and Bob
loved the outdoors, going fishing (especially to Canada) , and taking numerous trips to Western United
States including Alaska and Branson, MO. They enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, and then
holding their own garage sale. They spent many hours at their cabin on Lake Emily in Florence County.
Mary loved sewing, knitting, quilting, and playing card games with her many friends and family.
She canned the fruits and vegetables of her huge garden, and made a wicked rhubarb kuchen.
She enjoyed cutting the 2 acres of grass at their home as it provided time for reflection. She became an
avid Plymouth Panther fan who was always there for the activities of her children, grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
Survivors include: Three Children: Jacalyn (Paul) Fassler of Marshfield, William (Kristin) Rooker of the
Town of Plymouth and Thomas (Carrie) Rooker of Plymouth. Ten grandchildren: Nadine (Gary) Becker of
Plymouth, Sarah (Todd) Grebe of Plymouth, Eric (Stacey) Rooker of Plymouth, Josh (Kelly) Rooker of
Oshkosh, Seth (Kelsey) Rooker of Clive, Iowa, Kate (Mitch) Rooker-Jeske of Plymouth, Justin (Laura)
Rooker of Glenbeulah, Tate (Stephanie) Rooker of Sheboygan, Lizzie (Max) Rooker Ortega of Wauwatosa
and Kegan (Anna) Fassler of Eau Claire. Fourteen Great Grandchildren: Cayden, Ambreah and Beau
Becker, Lily, Aria and Elise Grebe, William and Ellie Rooker, Sage and Morgan Rooker, Paige Goldbeck
and Leanna Rooker, Layla and Miley Rooker. Daughter-in-law: Ann (Dave) Hansmann of Plymouth,
Four Sister-in-law: Gertrude Rooker of Plymouth, JoAnn Grant of Sheboygan, Marilyn Rooker of Waldo
and Janet Rooker of Sheboygan Falls. Also survived by many nieces, nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving Husband Bob of 61 years, her parents; Son: Robert S. Rooker Jr;
Brother: Adrian W. (Geraldine) Van Dixhorn Jr; Five brothers-in-law: Henry (Myrtha) Rooker, Willis
Rooker, Edward (Florence) Rooker, Donald Rooker and Raymond Rooker, Two sisters-in-law: Dorothy
Dunham and Marie Rooker.
Following Mary’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday
afternoon (May 24, 2022) at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. John Schultz,
Pastor of St. John Lutheran will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday (May 24) at the CHURCH from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Mary’s name for St. John Lutheran School,
Plymouth Lions Club or please donate to a charity of your choice.
