The pace of change in daily COVID-19 numbers has slowed, with even single-digit differences now showing in the data. This is in contrast with some daily indicators such as new cases having, at times, changed by the hundreds, both up and down, since the beginning of the year. The latest trends have mostly been down.
On Tuesday only 4 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were added, putting the pandemic total to 29,004 in Sheboygan County. 2,202 of those are active, 39 fewer than on Monday. There were 40 recoveries to report.
Three more deaths in Sheboygan County have been attributed to COVID-19 since Monday’s update, one person in their 60s and two that were at least 80 years old.
Of the now 240 pandemic deaths in the county, 111 involved persons at least 80 years old. Fifty-nine were in their 70s, thirty-eight in their 60s, sixteen in their 50s, nine were in their 40s, six were in their 30s, and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
Another six persons were hospitalized for the first time for COVID-19 since Monday, raising that total to 1,159. At 11 current patients, hospitalizations rose by 5.
The level of transmission in Sheboygan County is still considered “high”. The case rate was unrevised at 440.44 per 100,000 persons. The percent of tests returning positive dropped by one-tenth of one percent in the last day to 10.58%.
Vaccinations are slow by any measure. 18 persons received their first dose of vaccine since Monday, raising that total to 71,944, or 62.4% of the county population. 59.4%, or 68,490, are fully vaccinated. That increased by 32 since Monday.
