The City of Sheboygan is likely going to be getting a small fleet’s worth of vehicles soon, judging by several resolutions up for consideration this week.
Today the Finance and Personnel Committee will consider a direct referral resolution from Alderpersons Trey Mitchell and Roberta Filicky-Peneski to purchase one diesel-powered paratransit bus for Shoreline Metro Transportation. 80% of the cost of the bus will be reimbursed by a Federal Transit Administration grant received by Shoreline Metro. The resolution is asking to spend $74,318.00.
Then on Wednesday the Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee will take up a proposal to buy seven new police vehicles. The direct referral resolution from Alderpersons Barb Felde and Betty Ackley argues that there’s already a backlog of orders for new police squad vehicles with the Ford Motor Company due to the impact of COVID on the supply chain, and with funding already anticipated for six vehicles next year they’d like to put in that order now. The seventh vehicle is a replacement for one totaled in an accident that will be largely covered by insurance. Two of the vehicles will be Hybrids to support the City’s sustainability initiative. The bill on that resolution is $274,646.50
