Michael L. Marquardt was born in Sheboygan, WI on October 19, 1941. He lived in Sheboygan until after second grade where he attended Pigeon River Elementary School. The family then moved to a farm in Manitowoc County south of School Hill in 1949. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1959. He worked various manufacturing jobs until he was hired at Kohler Company in 1976. Michael worked there for 28 years with retirement in 2003.
His retirement was filled with going to Packer games, Brewers games, concerts, county fairs, local picnics, and any place with live music. He had plenty of time to pursue his love for cars and car shows. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead with friends and family. In addition to cards, he enjoyed playing liars dice with friends on a weekly basis.
Michael is survived by his five daughters: Debbie (Bubba) Bayer, Wendy (Patrick) Schroeder, Sherri (Steve) Ploeckelman, Amy Marquardt, Jessica (David) Grunewald-Stein, and brother-in-law Robert Florian. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren: Ben Cichocki, Sara Horness, Christine Horness, Mackenzie Ryan, Robert (Stevie) Schroeder, Brittany Schroeder, Katlyn (Michael) Harshbarger, Emily (Ben) Drews, Tommy Ploeckelman, and Michael Stein. He was preceded in death by both parents, Leslie and Berniece Marquardt and his sister, MaryJane Florian.
A time for visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
