A Manitowoc County sheriff’s lieutenant has pleaded not guilty following a dispute over his daughter’s cell phone.
According to a criminal complaint, Andrew Beck’s juvenile daughter said her father became angry after discovering she had an iPhone, which she wasn’t allowed to have at his home. She said that Beck threw the phone to the ground repeatedly and bent it across his knee until it was destroyed. Beck told a Calumet County deputy that he had restricted phone access out of concerns over unsupervised social media use.
On Monday, the court found probable cause, ordered Beck to submit to booking, and issued a 500-dollar signature bond with the condition that he have no violent or abusive contact with two individuals named in court records.
