The City of Manitowoc is the latest community to cut ties with Flock Safety and its license plate-reading cameras. Mayor Justin Nickels announced the city will not be renewing the contract when it expires early next year. Nickels is asking Flock to remove privately-owned cameras across the city.
Manitowoc deactivated its cameras earlier this month amid growing concerns over data and privacy. The Mayor noted the city remains committed to investing in public safety tech, but will look to different providers offering entirely separate services.
