Those returning home from New Year’s celebrations today might encounter slippery road conditions, but nothing worthy of an advisory is anticipated, and the favorable travel conditions that follow should reach into the weekend.
Light snow showers and flurries were falling by midday today, and are moving through from northwest to southeast and on track to end before 8 PM. Even given that duration, only an inch or so is likely to accumulate – still enough to cause slippery conditions, especially on any untreated roads.
Temperatures are likely to remain within a range from 10 to 20 degrees until Saturday, and after today, snow is absent from the forecast until an inch or so appears on Sunday night. The snow heralds the arrival of warmer-than-normal air that should remain through at least mid-week.
