A tradition that goes back to 1851 makes its 173rd appearance as the Sheboygan County Fair opens on Thursday. The event, which began on the corner of Adams and Michigan Streets in Sheboygan Falls will bring its displays of animals, crafts, vendors, music, and food of all sorts…served on plates, buns, and yes, on a stick to the Plymouth Fairgrounds. Daily passes are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 10-14, and no charge for those 9 and under, while parking is $5.
Many see the County Fair as a chance to see and take part in the traditional elements like baking contests, farm animal judging, and the big meat animal sale tomorrow night. Others take in tractor pulls, races on the dirt track, and musical acts – both on the main stage, and the several other venues placed throughout the fairgrounds.
In Sheboygan County, Labor Day Weekend is synonymous with the County Fair – an event that turns a three-day weekend into a fitting five day celebration that both closes out the summer, and sets the stage for a return to school, falling leaves, and falling temperatures.
