One more day of oppressive heat is in the works for much of Southern Wisconsin before cooler air pushes in overnight. The “feels-like” temperatures may exceed 100 degrees everywhere but areas within a mile or three of the lakeshore and a heat advisory is in effect until 7 tonight. Strenuous outdoor work should be approached with caution or avoided, and those with health issues should stay in an air-conditioned building, finding public spaces if needed. Lake Michigan will provide relief with 1-foot waves on 70-degree water and no beach hazard statements or closings in Sheboygan County. And if this morning’s clouds persist, temperatures may remain cooler with scattered storms helping as well, but heavier storms may accompany the change in airmass, especially late this afternoon or tonight.
With a 2-in-5 risk of severe weather, the greatest hazard is for high thunderstorm winds. There could be some hail, but the chances of tornadoes or flooding are low. Wednesday, for now, looks mostly cloudy with mid-70s, while Thursday looks similarly mild with party sunny skies.
