Amid a late summer heat wave, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is advising any resident who had their utilities disconnected is entitled to an emergency reconnection during the heatwave. Disconnections are not allowed and any previous disconnections should be restored under the rules.
Once the heat advisory, heat warning, or heat emergency expires, utilities are allowed to resume the disconnection without further notice.
Customers are reminded that closing blinds and curtains, curtailing the unneeded use of electronics, and reserving use of heavy utilities like washers and dryers for off-peak hours can all help to keep temperatures low and save energy.
Consumers who have questions about disconnections during periods of extreme temperatures should contact the Public Service Commission Consumer Affairs Bureau at 1-800-225-7729.
