An operator driving under the influence left Green Bay Road in the Town of Grafton early Monday morning, coming to rest among trees in Lime Kiln Park. The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:08 a.m. Monday to Green Bay Road near Chateau Drive in the Town of Grafton, where a 2006 Subaru Sedan had apparently failed to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed, left the road, and came to rest in an embankment at the park.
The initial responders found nobody in the vehicle and conducted a search. Deputies followed a trail that led to the bluff at Lime Kiln Park, which is about 30-feet high with a heavily-wooded and marshy area below. While searching the vicinity a subject was heard yelling from the bottom of the bluff, stating he was injured and in severe pain. The person was located at around 3:22 a.m. in a field near the archery range at the foot of the bluff.
29-year-old Colin Graves of Cedarburg admitted that he was the registered owner and driver of the vehicle that had crashed. Graves said that he fell off of the bluff into the marsh, and then dragged himself out to the field.
Graves suffered multiple injuries and was transported for treatment to Aurora Medical Center Hospital in Grafton where he was in severe condition. He was charged with his second offense of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, as well as Failure to Notify Police of an Accident.
