Crimes that go unsolved are no less deserving of justice than active cases. Just last month Winnebago County put to rest the 1963 murder of a gas station owner near Menasha. Officials are hoping for the same outcome in at least two other area cold-cases.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office points to the 35-year-old mystery behind the abduction, murder and dismemberment of Rhys Pocan in Milwaukee. Portions of her body were found as far away as Vernon Marsh in Waukesha County, while her torso was found in Nichols Creek in Sheboygan County. Anyone with information that could lead to solving the case is asked to call the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office at 920-459-3112, or to contact Sheboygan Countywide Crimestoppers at 877-CUF-THEM.
Another high-profile case is that of Laurie Depies, who was last seen on August 19th 32 years ago in the Town of Menasha. She disappeared after parking her car at an apartment complex at 9:30 that night and hasn’t been seen since.
