Forecasters now expect the storm currently moving through Wisconsin to be at its worst near the Illinois border. National Weather Service meteorologists had been hedging their bets most of the week leading up to today, and now that the system is moving through it appears that Sheboygan County will not be dealing with the higher amounts that had been projected. Instead those heavier snow bands have been trending towards the I-94 corridor and points south, where 4-6 inch totals may be punctuated by even higher amounts. In Sheboygan County, though, 2-4 inches now looks most likely with those higher amounts most likely in our south townships.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 O’clock this afternoon for slippery road conditions that will dominate travel for the remainder of the morning. Any snow after around 3 p.m. will be negligible, allowing a good window for cleanup late this afternoon and tomorrow. Then we’ll be watching for the next system arriving Sunday as light snow that will transition to rains for Monday and Tuesday.
