Local high school students looking to further their education through a technical degree have a new advocate in the Kohler Foundation. The charitable wing of the county’s largest company has pledged an annually renewable scholarship gift of $250,000 to support local youth pursuing higher education, underscoring the Foundation’s ongoing dedication to empowering students in the community.
Laura Roenitz, Executive Director at Kohler Foundation, Inc., said that the Foundation recognizes education as the bedrock of progress, and through the scholarship aims to uplift and motivate students to continue their educational pursuits, thus contributing to the advancement and prosperity of the community.
The announcement pointed to LTC’s number-1 ranking among Wisconsin’s Technical College system, and retention of more than 94% within the local area after graduation as a good reason to support students who will strengthen the area’s economic stability.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen said that the gift is “a profound investment in our region’s students” and called it “generational”. He said that over the next ten years the Kohler Foundation Scholarship will support more than 450 students with a collective $2-1/2 million in scholarship funds to achieve their academic goals.
