An agreement was approved on Monday night by the Sheboygan Common Council that puts a new Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations in office. Kelly Hendee was approved to take that position by a unanimous 9 votes instead of the usual 10, as alder Felde, attending remotely, lost connection and couldn’t vote.
The approval wasn’t before an amendment was proposed, and approved, to adjust the effective start date to December 22nd. The agreement will expire on December 21 of 2026 unless Hendee should be terminated before then.
That amendment also gives Hendee up to 10 days of vacation before the end of this year – meaning she might choose to wait until January 2 to begin her work. Hendee was also given 160 hours of paid time off effective January 1st, and she’ll be granted paid leave according to city policy.
Hendee takes the position vacated by Adam Westbrook. Westbrook resigned his position on August 30th after serving for less than six months.
