Chief Petty Officer, Dennis Dean Beske (USN Retired), 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 28, 2023, with his wife by his side and surrounded by his beloved pets.
Dennis was born in Beaver Dam on March 15, 1951. He grew up in Oshkosh and attended Oshkosh area schools before entering the United States Navy in 1971. After serving for more than 23 years, he retired as an Aviation Electronics Chief in 1994. Dennis was extremely proud of his military service. After his retirement he attended Western Illinois University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree and acquiring his teaching certificate. He taught “shop” classes at the VIT School District in Table Grove, Illinois, and Sheboygan South High School. Dennis left teaching and worked for Sears as an in-home repair technician. He was truly “Tim the Tool Man” and was the “I-gotta-guy” guy. He fully retired in 2017.
Dennis’s favorite hobby was restoring his 1957 Chevy Nomad. He was a big collector of Navy memorabilia and die-cast cars. He loved music and enjoyed many genres. But he mostly loved creatures, especially his fur babies.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patti, and his sister, Barb Genal Noe (Tom) of Oshkosh. He is also survived by his fur children, Tripper, Sophi, Matilda, Brie, and his 17 year old, three-legged cat, Sylvester. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and David Beske, and his beloved grandmother, Gladys Freeman.
The family wishes to thank the CCU staff at Aurora Medical Center, especially Allyson and Alysa, for going above and beyond, and Aurora Hospice Care for the care given and kindnesses shown to Dennis in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sheboygan Humane Society, VFW Post 9156, or a U.S. Military veteran’s organization of your choice.
A Military Memorial Service for Dennis will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment ceremony for the family will follow at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens in Beaver Dam, where Dennis will be laid to rest near his parents and grandmother.
Fair winds and following seas, Dennis. May forever you feel, upon your cheek, the salty breeze. Your spirit lives in many a heart, your words captured, and never to depart. May your loved ones have the comfort in knowing, to heaven is where you are going. For all that they have to do is look above, and they will be reminded of your love.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Dennis’s arrangements.
