Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Dept
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies had to put their skills to work on Friday morning when an erratic driver prompted emergency steps be taken to prevent head-on collisions. A deputy positioned in the Highway 151 median north of Highway 49 observed a southbound vehicle cross the median into the northbound lanes, continuing its southward path against the flow of traffic. With the Sheriff’s officers in pursuit with lights and sirens blaring, the vehicle went about a half mile before trying to self-correct their path.
As the suspect vehicle turned onto South Frontage Road from the State Highway 26 northbound on-ramp, the deputy was able to catch up – but only momentarily as the suspect then departed at a high rate of speed on South Frontage Road, ignoring the Sheriff behind.
Once reaching Mill Road the driver accelerated to approximately 130 MPH, traveling about four miles before ultimately pulling over. A High-risk stop was conducted and the driver, a 23-year-old man from Waupun, was taken into custody on Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Operating while under the influence, and several traffic citations.
