Joyce D. Kuhlow, 77, of Hingham, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Joyce was born to Lloyd and Delores (Veldman) Hoitink in Sheboygan on September 25, 1946. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1964.
Joyce was united in marriage to Allen Kuhlow on April 27, 1968, at Hingham Church. Over the years, Joyce worked at the Hingham Post Office and in activities department at Sheboygan Senior Community. She sold Avon for many years and was locally known as the “Avon lady.”
Joyce was a member of Hingham Church where she was a part of the prayer circle and quilting group. She volunteered at the UW Sheboygan Extension and was a member of the Sheboygan County Homemakers group for 40 years and a board member of the Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education, Inc for 20 years.
Joyce enjoyed bringing her grandchildren to nursing homes to make the residents smile. She also loved making others smile, through visiting church members, sending cards, and crocheting blankets for newborn babies. She enjoyed collecting bells from all her vacations and feeding the birds. Joyce always had a smile on her face and enjoyed spending time and playing cards with her family and church family. Together, Joyce and Allen loved going on trips, family vacations, and camping. They enjoyed being foster parents for many years.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 55 years, Allen; son, Jon (Fehmida) Kuhlow; grandchildren, Penelope Kuhlow and Samuel Kuhlow; sister, Luann (Glenn) Harmelink; sisters-in-law, Audrey (Marvin) Barts, Sylvia Hoitink, Cindy Hoitink; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stephanie Kuhlow; brothers, Paul and Perry Hoitink; and brother-in-law, Don Parrish.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Hingham Church on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Hingham Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, October 26, from 4:00-7:00pm and again at church on Friday, from 10:00am until the time of service.

Joyce’s family would like to extend a special thank you to their nice neighbors, Pastor Barrett, and their Hingham Church family. They appreciate all the calls and meals brought over by family and friends. They would also like to thank the doctors and ER staff of Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan, flight for life staff, and neuro ICU doctors and ER Nurses at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, all for their compassionate care of Joyce.
