How cool are things produced in and around Sheboygan County? That question will be on the line for several products, as Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce launches voting on Monday to determine the “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin”.
The annual contest, sponsored this year by Johnson Financial Group, highlights the state’s $70 billion manufacturing industry and the high-tech, high-skill and high-pay career opportunities available.
WMC Vice President of Communications & Marketing, Nick Novak, said that the competition connects manufacturers with their communities and generates public engagement and excitement, noting that nearly a half a million Wisconsinites are employed making what he called “some incredible products”, and the contest serves to show everyone what’s made in their own back yard.
Among the nominees in the 8th annual contest are String Cheese from Cedar Valley in Belgium, Beer Tap Handles from Hankscraft AJS of Random Lake, Jolly Good Soda from Krier Foods of Random Lake, and the RACK’N PAK Recycle Bagging System from PolyWrap Recycling of Sheboygan. 116 nominees in all will be competing for your votes beginning on Monday at madeinwis.com, with the winner to be announced on October 19th in Madison.
