Plans by Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin to construct a facility at North Taylor Drive and Saemann Avenue will be discussed today by the City Plan Commission in a 4 p.m. meeting at City Hall. The conditional use permit being sought is a make-or-break step towards allowing the project to go forward once the full council approves, but those plans are being recommended for approval.
Plans submitted to the City by Eppstein Uhen Architects of Milwaukee show the project occupying some 12-1/3 acres of land with a four-story, 165,000 square-foot building that will include a neighborhood hospital with a 10-bed emergency department, 10 inpatient rooms, imaging services, 4 outpatient operating rooms, an outpaitent clinic and a three-story medical office clinic.
The project is expected to create 300 permanent jobs, 150 of those located within the building. Froedtert will be investing around $70 million dollars in the hospital, which will take between 18 and 20 months to build, with the first patients seen in the spring or summer of 2026.
