The occupant of a home on Sheboygan’s south side needed hospitalization after a fire in his apartment on Friday evening.
The Sheboygan Fire Department was called to the 1200 block of South 15th Street at around 6:45 p.m. Friday and arrived within 2 minutes to find heavy smoke in that upper apartment. A full-department response was ordered while the first crew on-scene entered and rescued a man from that unit. No others were found inside, and Sheboygan firefighters were able to knock down the fire with a hose from inside, while paramedics transported the person to a local hospital for treatment.
Initial investigation is blaming an appliance for starting the blaze, which caused an estimated $14,000 damage, though the official cause remains under investigation.
