Richard “Dick” Felten, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Edenbrook Sheboygan. He was born on June 8, 1938, to the late Elmer and Eleanora (Kuenstler) Felten in Sheboygan. Dick graduated from Sheboygan Central High School with the class of 1956. He was united in marriage to Jane Mueller at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on July 16, 1966. In 2026, they celebrated 60 years of marriage, a wonderful milestone reflecting the love and commitment they shared throughout their life together.
Dick honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963, serving at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and completing an overseas tour in Japan. He often fondly recalled his time in Japan and the many memories he made there. He retired from Knauf Tobacco and Candy Company after 40 years of service as a vending service technician.
Dick was a steady and dependable presence in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was loyal, soft-spoken, honest, and respectful, with a deep dedication to both his work and his family. Dick had a lifelong fascination with things that flew, especially airplanes, helicopters, and birds. He enjoyed birdwatching and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of flight. In his younger years, Dick was a talented softball player and looked forward to playing softball with his closest high school friends at their annual picnic. He also loved music, especially polka and gospel.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Jane; children, Craig Felten and Pamela (Mark) Thoni; grandchildren, Morgan, John, and Wyatt; and sisters, Charlotte Wallander and Elaine Berchem.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald; and sisters, Carolyn Scherrer and Eileen Schultz.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. VFW 9156 will conclude the service with military honors.
