A Plymouth dairy processor that uses pressure to inactivate bacteria in food products without cooking will be able to do more thanks to a grant from the State of Wisconsin. Safety Fresh Foods LLC of Plymouth plans to invest its award towards innovation and waste reduction in its operations.
The Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection received 38 applications for the 2023 round of Dairy Processor Grants that awarded a total of $400,000 to 21 companies The awards are designed to foster innovation, improve profitability, and sustain the long-term viability of Wisconsin’s dairy processing facilities. The awards made up to $50,000 available to each applicant, with recipients required to match at least 20 percent of the grant amount.
Besides Safety Fresh Foods of Plymouth, another regional operation – Scoops Ice Cream of Chilton, was awarded money to expand and modernize its facility.
Since 2014 the State program has funded 106 proposals, totaling over $2 million.
