Awareness is key to solving any problem, and a convoy on I-43 on Saturday aims to heighten awareness of the second leading cause of death among young Americans. That cause is suicide, something that took the lives of 46,000 Americans in 2020 according to Mental Health America, the sponsor of the convoy that will involve over 100 semis, cars and motorcycles traveling north from Oostburg to Kellnersville starting at noon on Saturday.
While raising awareness about the issues surrounding suicide, the convoy on Saturday will also be in memory of Nicole Warner, a 19-year-old from Sheboygan Falls who took her own life in 2019, and whose Grandfather, Dennis Teetzen, died in a car crash while he was en route to her memorial days later.
The convoy will leave from Masters Gallery Foods in Oostburg, and once it arrives at Kellnersville Bar & Banquet, participants will gather for food, drinks, raffles and music to celebrate – and to make a difference in the incidence of suicide.
