A drug enforcement sweep on Washington County roads has resulted in numerous arrests.
Washington County Sheriff’s officers on Monday joined with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Germantown Police and the County’s Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force to make 51 traffic stops focused on locating criminal activity. Among the results were arrests for weapons violations, drug possession, bail jumping and other charges.
In one case a chase on I-41 began after officers making the stop saw a large bag of marijuana. That driver then fled while passengers threw items from the vehicle. Stop sticks and a pursuit intervention were able to eventually stop the car, and white powder and over a pound of marijuana were siezed. The three occupants were jailed on charges ranging from probation and child support violations to fraud against a financial institution along with drug charges.
