
Sandra J. Hintz, 87 of Waldo passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 6, 2022 with her
loving family beside her.
Sandra was born on July 24, 1935 in Plymouth a daughter to the late Arthur and Ella (TeHennepe)
Kappel. She grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Waldo graduating from Waldo High
School with the Class of 1953. On October 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Norbert Hintz, Jr. at St.
Thomas Lutheran Church. They resided in Germany as Norbert was stationed there with the US Army.
Upon their return to the states they owned and operated the Waldo Oil Company. She had also been
employed at the Plymouth Hospital as a nurses aide. Norbert preceded her in death on April 1, 2012.
Sandra was active as a 4-H Leader for over 20 years. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, often
sewing her children’s clothing and creating many decorative quilts. As an avid bowler she attended
many national tournaments and also enjoyed card playing as part of a card club. As a homemaker she
enjoyed taking care of her gardens and canning.
Sandra was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade.
Sandra is survived by her three children, Michael (Joan) Hintz of Waldo, Linda (Ken) Hintz-Hernandez of
Waldo and Lisa (Jim) Schumacher of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Amanda and Alyssa Hintz, Ella (James)
Schmidt, Lydia Reed and Grace and Jessica Schumacher; her great grandchildren, Thorin Reed and
Roman and Atticus Schmidt; and a son-in-law, Jon Hillmer. Nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends further survive. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a
daughter Debbie Hillmer, a brother David Kappel and a sister, Vivian Rowe.
A funeral service for Sandra will be held 5 pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Cascade with Rev. Richard Bidinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Waldo Cemetery. Family
and friends may visit with the family at the church, 509 Milwaukee Ave., Cascade on Wednesday from 3
pm until the time of service at 5 pm.
A memorial fund has been established in Sandra’s name.
Sandra’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff at
Froedtert West Bend Hospital and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Their kindness and
compassion will always be remembered.
