A suspect wanted on an active nationwide felony warrant was taken into custody by authorities near Van Dyne in Fond du Lac County on Tuesday, but it took a coordinated effort to capture him.
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized the wanted man riding a bicycle southbound on Lakeshore Drive and contact was attempted. But the man fled southbound before abandoning the bicycle and running into a dense marsh on private property, escaping the view of law enforcement.
More Sheriffs deputies were joined by Wisconsin State Patrol troopers and City of Fond du Lac Police officers who established a perimeter where a K-9 partner teamed with a drone operator to search and eventually locate the man who was taken into custody.
The suspect is a 50-year-old man from Rib Lake, Wisconsin with an extensive criminal history that includes resisting and obstructing law enforcement along with drug and theft-related offenses.
