Joan “Jaycee” Bartelt, age 65, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on
October 1, 2022.
She was born July 18th , 1957, to Melvin Dahlke and June Tettenborn in Milwaukee, WI.
Jaycee graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee in 1975. She married Jon Bartelt
on March 5, 1977 and they lived in Plymouth for nearly 40 years. Together, they worked for
the family business, JCTS where Jaycee enjoyed many years working with customers and
drivers as the office manager and dispatcher.
Jaycee was a voracious reader. Her book collection could start a small library. She wrote
down every book she read since 1992. Even so, she still ended up buying multiple copies of
the same book sometimes. She is a lover of classic rock music and enjoyed watching crime
and game shows. She would DVR so many shows she had to make herself a schedule. She
also enjoyed watching the wildlife near her home, a snuggle with her dogs, cooking (her
kids loved her spaghetti, even though she didn’t), and making others laugh. She was always
there to talk if you called. She was always willing to help, even when it made things harder
for her. Most of all, Jaycee loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was very
generous and made sure the grandchildren had their favorite movies on the date of release,
their Christmas gift piles would be nearly as tall as the tree itself. She never said no to
babysitting her grandkids and she talked about them to anyone who would listen.
She leaves behind four children: Jayson Dahlke, Jenni (Terry) Koenig, Jef (Kay) Bartelt,
Justin (Cassidy) Bartelt as well as eight grandchildren Kyrstin Schaefer, Bianca (Mat
Turner) Rayne, Sam Koenig, Ben Koenig, Korwyn Bartelt, Kozby Bartelt, Kraesyn Bartelt,
and Josslyn Bartelt. There are also several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and
friends that will miss her dearly.
Jaycee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Jon), her siblings, Elvis, Jimi,
Stevie, and Janis.
An informal celebration of Jaycee’s life will be held on Tuesday (October 11th ) at the Suchon
