Rita J. Zolp (nee Strobel), age 95, of Sheboygan Falls, WI, passed away on Sunday afternoon (September
25, 2022) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born on February 11, 1927 in Plymouth, WI, a daughter of the late Philip and Bertha (Kern)
Strobel. She attended Plymouth Grade Schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945.
On September 28, 1946 she married Benedict Zolp, the couple lived and farmed in the Town of
Greenbush until moving to Sheboygan Falls in 2001. Benedict preceded her in death on March 5, 2010.
She was employed earlier in life at Cleveland Container and at S & R Cheese Company in Plymouth.
Rita enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, quilting, watching her favorite sports team, the Green Bay
Packers, and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include: Three sons: Daniel (Wanda) of Plymouth, Timothy (Sharon) of Beechwood and
Mitchell (Jackie) of Larson, three daughters: Mary Ellen (Don) Wagner of Adell, Jean (Steve) Groene of
Mountain and Roseanne (Dan) Weber of Sheboygan Falls. Thirteen Grandchildren: Ryan (Margaret)
Zolp, David (Jessica) Zolp, Kurt Zolp (special friend Jessica), James (Kristin) Stricker, Eric (Heather)
Groene, Kristen (Tim) Mahler, Jenny Weber, Nick Weber (Special friend Gina), Tanya (Jason) Larcheid,
Brandon (Lori) Zolp, Justin Zolp (special friend Jessica), Matthew (Lauren) Zolp, and Andrew Zolp.
Seventeen great-grandchildren: Danny Zolp, Alex, John and Michael Zolp, Jessi (James) Rice, Jodi
Stricker, Julia (Gregg) Banker, Joshua and Addison Groene, Ava Mahler, Jada Weber, Jackson and Calvin
Larcheid, Zayd and Arietta Zolp, Carter and Emmett Zolp,. Two step-great-grandchildren: Kailey and
Emily Blankenburg. Six great –great-grandchildren: Wilhelmina, Everett and Lorelei Rice, Laura, Jamie
and Steven Banker. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter: Ann Randall, one grandson:
Jason Stricker, one-great-granddaughter Alexis Mahler, three brothers: Charles, Paul and Harry Strobel,
three sisters: Virginia Tupper, Ethel Payne and Evelyn Eigenberger. Four sisters-in-law: Stella Zolp,
Sophia Jonelis, Helen Kind and Xcee Luth and two brothers-in-law: Peter Zolp and Sam Zolp.
Memorial services will be held on Monday evening (October 3, 2022) at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral
Home in Plymouth. Father Philip Reifenberg, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in
Plymouth will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Greenbush Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on MONDAY (Oct. 3) at the Suchon Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until the time
of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Rita’s name for the Sharon S. Richardson
Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
