Barbara Stoner, of Howards Grove, passed away on September 15th, 2022 after a brief illness with her family by her side. Barbara was born October 26th, 1944 in Howards Grove to the late William Schwartz and Anita (Bramstedt) Schwartz. She graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1952.
Barbara was a past member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Sheboygan.
She worked at Ray’s Food Shoppe in Howards Grove and for Kohler Co. for more than 18 years in various office settings. Having a deep passion to help others, Barbara returned to school. She moved to Connecticut in 1987, where she began her career in counseling and working with special needs individuals, and as a massage therapist. She also volunteered at the Ronald Mc Donald House and The Connecticut Hospice.
Barbara returned to Wisconsin in 1998 to be near her family. She ended her occupational career working for Xerox Corporation when she retired in 2011. She continued some part time work as a driver for Lakeshore Transportation and Harms Bus Company which she enjoyed.
Barbara loved most sports and participated in bowling, golf, and in her earlier years played basketball, volleyball, and softball. She was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers fan. She also had various pastimes, include reading, photography, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Traveling was Barbara’s other passion and she loved driving to new places. Driving through 10 states to fulfill her dream to see the Milwaukee Brewers Spring Training camp in Arizona and to Maine for whale watching and lobster were just a few. She also enjoyed a Caribbean Cruise and a six country European trip.
Spending time near Lake Michigan and the Atlantic Ocean had a calming effect on her. She would get together with several grade school and high school friends. One special gathering included a hot air balloon ride.
Barbara loved being with her family and they meant the world to her.
Barbara is survived by her brother Joseph (Cheryl) Schwartz, Howards Grove, four nieces, Deb (Tim) Harms Ross, Fair Haven, NJ, Tammy (Steve) Gerber, Howards Grove, Billie (Grant) Davey, Howards Grove, and Karrie Jo (David) Schwartz Richter, Plymouth. Four great nieces, Camille and Annika Ross, Addi Gerber, and Rachel (Dan) Sohn-Richter. Three great nephews, Jonah Gerber, Ryan Richter, and Quinn Davey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister JoAnn Harms, and brothers Robert and Donald Schwartz, and brother-in-law William Harms.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Barbara’s arrangements.
