Weather watchers are on heightened alert in Wisconsin as the ingredients that could result in severe thunderstorms are in place; those being abundant moisture, an unstable atmosphere, a bit of sunshine and an approaching front. The resulting Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the majority of Wisconsin until 10 PM, with hail up to two-inch diameter and scattered wind gusts up to 70 MPH the leading threats, although a tornado or two can’t be ruled out. Over 8 million people in all are within the watch area.
If forecasters remain on-target, the Sheboygan area could expect thunderstorms approaching by 7:30 PM and exiting over Lake Michigan within an hour or so. But given uncertainties, the public is advised to keep up with the latest forecasts and any possible warnings later today.
