DuWayne A. Dhein, 63, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in his sleep at his
home.
He was born November 16, 1958, in Sheboygan to Ralph and LuEllen (Gosse) Dhein. DuWayne
graduated from Howards Grove High School with the Class of 1977. He was proud of achieving the rank
of Eagle Scout. He went on to proudly serve in the US Army from 1977 until 1982. On June 25, 1982, he
was united in marriage to Sandra Lange.
DuWayne went on to the Joseph J. Goetz operating engineers training center. He was a member of the
Operating Engineers Local 139. He worked for several companies over the years, Gabe’s Construction,
Brandenburg Demolition, Meade Pipeline and Alberici retiring in January 2017.
Gardening was a passion of his, he grew sweet corn, cabbage and pickles. He was known for his crock
pickles and sauerkraut. DuWayne was an excellent cook and loved to make special treats for his family
and friends. He had a sense of humor and like to “scare” people. Taking rides on his Harley and mowing
the grass were favorite pastimes of his. Family was his pride and joy, he loved spending time with them
creating lasting memories.
DuWayne is survived by his parents Ralph and LuEllen Dhein, wife Sandra Dhein, children; Heath Dhein,
Heidi (Ryan) Blank, and Heather (Jeremy) Rasmussen, grandchildren; Brayden and Bentley Blank and
Lucas, Morgan, and Riley Rasmussen, brothers Daryl Dhein and Dale (Cynthia) Dhein, sisters-in-law;
Carrie (Daryl) Kolb, Wendy (Jack) Schnelle, and Debra Street. He is further survived by many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. DuWayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow
and Esther Dhein and Anita and Arwin Gosse, granddaughter Brooklyn Rasmussen, in-laws Lionel and
Beverly Lange, and several other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 12:30PM at Zimmer Westview
Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton RD. Sheboygan, with Pastor Matthew Shive officiating.
Military Honors will follow. If you are unable to join the family for the service, it will be livestreamed on
DuWayne’s obituary page on the funeral home website. Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn
Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from
10:30 AM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Operating Engineers Local 139 Scholarship Fund in
DuWayne’s name. Checks may be made to Wisconsin Operating Engineers S.I.A.F.
