Allen Hau

Allen J. Hau, age 63 of Glenbeulah, died at home with his beloved family by his side, on July 15, 2022, after
a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on January 21, 1959, the youngest of nine children of the
late Gregory and Dolores (Mueller) Hau. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1977. On July 27,
1985, he married Barbara Zielicke. Their son Ethan was born on July 22, 1996.
In 2019, Allen retired from a 41-year career at Sargento Foods, where he was the first to complete the
maintenance millwright apprenticeship program.
Allen was a man of many talents, and he was blessed with a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor.
Helping others was a big part of his life. He was happiest when he was coming up with creative ideas to
solve his and others’ problems. He was very technically capable and always ready to lend a helping hand.
His wife and son meant everything to him. He loved them dearly and would do anything for them. His love
knew no bounds; when Ethan graduated from UW-Stevens Point and took his first job in Alaska, Allen
accompanied him on the long road trip.
The family enjoyed many camping trips together, exploring new areas and appreciating the wonders of
nature throughout the state and country. They had many adventures hiking, bicycling, kayaking, and
motorcycling. Allen also enjoyed snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and taking long walks with Barb and
Ethan in the Kettle Moraine.
Allen had a passion for growing things—especially his raised garden that he built for and inherited from his
mother. He always graciously shared his harvest of fruits and vegetables with family and friends.
Allen was gifted with woodworking and many other creative talents. When Barb would return from work
travels, he would often surprise her with a project he had completed while she was away. Even while ill, he
crafted beautiful wood projects for his family and friends that they will treasure always.
He was a member of New Life Community Church, where he volunteered his technical skills as the
maintenance manager following the remodel of the building. He also gave his talents and time to the
KidQuest and Toolbox programs at the church, helping area families with household projects.
Although taken too soon, Allen leaves a legacy of undying love and devotion. He will be sadly missed, but
his kindness and loving memories will continue to inspire and remain with us forever.
Survivors include his wife Barbara and son Ethan. Allen is also survived by siblings Dave (Barbara) Hau, Bob
(Jane) Hau, Jerry (Julie) Hau, Ken (Sandy) Hau, Mary (Fred) Ferguson, Dean (Kaye) Hau, Gary (Jenny) Hau,
sister-in-law Joan Hau, mother-in-law Esther Zielicke, brothers-in-law Randy (Sharon) Zielicke and Jim
Zielicke. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Hau, nephew Kevin Hau, and father-in-law Harold
Zielicke.
Rest in peace dear Allen—you are finally set free to soar with the eagles.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday (July 25, 2022) at New Life Community Church in Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with services to follow at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Aaron Martell will
officiate and inurnment will be in the Greenbush Cemetery.
