How many persons in Sheboygan County currently have COVID-19? There’s no longer any way to know, nor are there daily published totals of cases, recoveries or deaths as the Division of Public Health has revised its reporting on the pandemic.
The DPH on Monday said that the reason is because of revisions by the State Department of Health Services reporting, which has transitioned away from “Active” and “Recovered” status definitions. Instead, state and local reporting now aligns with metrics used by the Centers for Disease Control in determining Community Levels data.
The DPH says this actually makes it possible to make more informed decisions on the precautions they should take based on the county in which they live.
The County does provide weekly updates with some of those figures, but the Coronavirus Case Dashboard – which is updated daily – will now feature the number of new cases per 100,000 people in the last 7 days, new hospital admissions per 100,000 people in the last 7 days, percent of hospital beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, Current Community Level, confirmed cases over time and confirmed deaths by age group on the main page. Hospital data, vaccine data and year-to-year reviews are available on other dashboard pages as well.
